DIY Vanilla Lip Scrub!

Hey guys! Today the sun is shining and it is actually hot for once, I hope it lasts. I know that most people who have tried them, love the Lush lip scrubs (the popcorn flavour is my favourite), however their £5 price tag makes them a bit expensive, which is why I decided to try and make my own DIY vanilla lip scrub!

All you need to make the lip scrub is three simple ingredients and a pot! (I used an old Lush lip scrub pot). If you wanted to you could substitute the olive oil and vanilla extract, but make sure that you use the same amount of liquids. This lip scrub is so easy to make, and will only take you about 5 minutes!

You will need:
One and a half tablespoons of white caster sugar.
One teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil.
And half a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

First mix the caster sugar and vanilla extract together, until it looks something like this. Make sure that the vanilla is completely combined though, otherwise there will be unflavoured bits when you have finished.

Next add the oil and give it a thorough mix. Don't worry if it looks quite oily, a lot of the oil gets absorbed once it has been put into the pot. When you have mixed it and it looks somewhat like this, you just need to spoon it into the pot and you are finished!

This recipe is super easy to make, and you can tailor it to whatever flavour you like! It leaves you with really soft and flake-less lips, for a fraction of the cost of a Lush lip scrub. Plus when this is in its pot it looks so much like the popcorn lip scrub.

I loved making up this recipe, after my first attempt with demerara sugar dramatically failed. So I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did!

I would love to know in the comments if you are going to make this. Or if you already have, how it turned out! :)

  1. Nice post! I want to try out the Lush lip scrub but at the price I am quite reluctant, especially for the amount you get. I think I'll try this out as it looks like a great idea!

    1. Thanks! They are a bit expensive, but if you do decide to try a Lush lip scrub I would suggest popcorn. My friend kindly gave me the bubblegum one the other day and it leaves quite a strange aftertaste which I don't really like.

Let me know how this one turns out when you make it though! :)
