Chanel Autumn 2015 Collection - Les Automnales // REVIEW

Can you believe that it has been over a year since my last Chanel seasonal collection post?! Never-the-less I am bringing them back, this time with the autumn 2015 collection (officially named Les Automnales). Yes, I am posting about autumn in August, but hey it's coming up fast, and as this collection only launched two days ago, I thought that it would be the perfect time to post!

The theme of the collection this year is all about the colours of the forest, those pretty browns, bronzes, deep nudes and reds. As a lover of light and fresh shades, there's a nice mix of those sorts of shades along with darker ones, so you are bound to find at least one product that catches your eye!

I'd say my favourite product is the Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Tisse D'Automne. Its got four pigmented and stunning shimmery shades inside - a khaki, a gorgeous baby pink toned champagne, a dark bronze and an earthy green. I haven't had a chance to use this much, as I'm still clinging onto the last bits of summer and keeping to my lighter eyeshadow shades, but I can't wait to get more use out of it!

The Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Alezane is a pretty brown toned pink with a subtle gold shimmer! I love darker toned blushes over the autumn and winter because they are perfect for adding some warmth, without bronzing. As with all Chanel blushes, that I have tried, the pigmentation is great!

The best way that I can describe the Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Pensive is a lovely salmony-dark nude-pink shade (I'm great at describing shades as you may be able to tell). It's like a dark lipstick for those who don't like dark lipsticks! I will have to be honest though and say that as somebody that very often gets dry lips, this one isn't really for me. You may all know how much I love my Chanel lipsticks, especially the Rouge Coco Shine formulation, but this one is quite drying and clings to any dry patches or lines in my lips - not an attractive look! I'd probably suggest trying a different shade from the collection.

When I've been wanting something that is a little more subtle than my typical black eyeliner I've been grabbing the Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Pomme De Pin. This is a matte dark brown shade that's so easy to apply because you simply swipe on the soft and pigmented crayon, then give it a little blend - a perfect staple if you are in a rush! There's also a sharpener on the bottom of the crayon, which I only just discovered as writing that previous sentence, so that's a great little feature.

Will you be getting anything from the Chanel Les Automnales Collection?

Top 5 Pink Lipsticks

Yes, it is me. I'm back from my little hiatus which involved finishing my exams, doing a weeks work experience, beginning to redecorate my bedroom and enjoying the start of my summer holiday! I thought that I would start back with a post that I've been meaning to do for ages - my top 5 pink lipsticks.

I am a huge lover of neutral coloured lipsticks, and with very few bolder ones in my collection, I have amassed quite a large collection of pink, coral and nude ones! I've slowly narrowed my favourite pink shades down to just five, so here they are.

Going left to right, MAC Peach Blossom has probably been in my collection the longest out of these. A pretty light rose shade, with a semi-sheer formulation, it is definitely my favourite MAC lipstick!

Aerin Rose Balm Lipstick in Whisper is a shade that I've had stored away for quite a long time, but it's only in the past six months or so that I've actually paid much attention to it. It's a beautiful pale pink shade with a slight nude undertone and sheer coverage.  I never hear anybody talking about Aerin lipsticks but they definitely need more recognition as they are really are great!

If you've read my blog for a long time you will know how fond I am of my Chanel lipsticks, and this is one of my favourites. Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Instinct is a soft pink shade, with a blue-purple tone, in a sheer and very buttery formulation!

One of my newest favourites is Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector in Rose. I've been wearing this one non-stop recently because it's ideal for the hot days we have been having. A light dusty pink shade, wrapped up in a moisturising and sheer formulation, it really is the perfect summer lipstick!

Lastly, a lipstick renowned for its eye-catching packaging, YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in Corail Intuitive. This is a coral toned light rose shade, with a semi-sheer coverage, that glides on easily and lasts for hours!

What are some of your favourite pink lipsticks?

Favourite Solo Eyeshadows

Before I start, I just want to say sorry for the lack of posts over the past month! I've been really caught up with my exams, which end in mid-June, so once they all finish I will be back to normal. You may have noticed that I've had an overhaul of my blog design too (I've changed everything except the header) and I think it looks much cleaner - I'd love to know what you all think! Also I've changed about my photos a little bit (I finally got those two clique H&M marble plates - yay), which means a new background and editing them a little differently.

I thought that today I would do a post on my favourite solo eyeshadows, because since I started blogging I seem to have amassed quite a lot of them. When it comes to any eyeshadows I am very much a neutral shades girl, as you will probably realise from this post, so definitely don't expect any bold shades from me!

Probably my most worn shade out of these four is MAC Sable! This shade is very popular as it's a gorgeous light bronze with a burgundy tone, from the frost line. The powder is super soft and blends nicely, making it a great essential eyeshadow to have in your collection!

Next is the Maybelline On And On Bronze Colour Tatttoo, which again is one of those staple products that everybody seems to own. It is a satin bronze shade, which is wrapped up in a soft cream formulation - perfect for when you are applying your makeup in a rush! I would recommend using a primer with this though, especially if you have oily eyelids, as it does have a tenancy to crease.

When it comes to cream eyeshadows there is one line that hands-down beats any other that I've tried, and that is Chanel Illusion D'Ombre! My favourite shade is Chanel Initiation* which is a dreamy, slightly bronze, earthy brown shade. The cream formulation is light, extremely soft and blends amazingly. It is quite glittery though, so I find that isn't really a daytime shade, otherwise I would be wearing it constantly!

Lastly, a new favourite of mine is Clarins Aquatic Rose Ombre Iridescente*, part of the summer 2015 collection. If you have already read my review of the collection you will know that I fell in love with this eyeshadow! It is a stunning rose gold toned champagne shade, in a velvety soft shimmery powder, which is quite different to any other shades that I own. Plus it blends nicely and has pretty rose gold packaging - what more could you want?

What are some of your favourite solo eyeshadows?

Twitter Chats - What & When? // TIPS & TRICKS

I would say that my number one source of blog traffic is from Twitter, largely thanks to the various blogger chats! If you didn't already know what a blogger chat on Twitter is - you use a certain hashtags at a set time on a set day and talk to other bloggers using the same hashtag. The chats typically last an hour long, and are at the same time every week. There are lots of chats for all sorts of bloggers and vloggers, whether you write/talk about fashion, beauty, lifestlyle, parenthood or food, anything really!

There will often be a topic, picked by the chat host, such as your favourite summer travel essentials, but the topics vary for every chat and for some chats there is no topic at all, you just have a general talk. At the end of the hour you then share you link out with anybody who asks (a little tip - if you only want to see the tweets of the people asking for links, let's say in the #fbloggers chat, just search "#fbloggers links"), which is a great way of getting your blog recognised, especially when you're a newbie! You may also find some new reads of your own, because I know that I definitely have.

Aside from the traffic side of things, Twitter chats are also an amazing way to make some new blogger friends and find people with similar interests to you. I will often ask during the #bbloggers chat for product suggestions and opinions on any products that I am on the lookout for, maybe a nice MAC eyeshadow shade! Although be warned that you may come away from a chat with a very big blogger-inflicted wishlist.

There are loads of blogger chats, so I've written a list of some of the main ones and a little information about each! As a note too, when I say there is a topic every week this is usually true, but the person who runs the chat may decide that it's just a general chat that week, so keep any eye out for that.

Clarins Summer 2015 Collection - Aquatic Treasures // REVIEW

In the past couple of years Clarins have seriously upped their game, which is why they have become one of my favourite brands, so whenever I have some new goodies from them to try out it is very exciting. This summer's collection is called Aquatic Treasures (pretty name, right?) and it contains lots of glowy and golden products to help you look your best this summer! This collection is available from May, hence the lack of links to any products, but I reckon that it will sell extremely well because there are some gorgeous products.

Clarins Ombre Iridescente Cream-To-Powder Eyeshadows* - Aquatic Rose (01) & Aquatic Grey (03) - £19
I own a few Clarins eyeshadows already and they are beautiful shades, with equally great pigmentation, and these two are definitely no exception! One of the things I love about the Cream-To-Powder eyeshadows too is that the powder is very soft and smooth, which makes the application of them really nice.

Aquatic Rose is a champagne-rose gold shade, with a shimmery finish, which I seriously adore as it's just such a gorgeous shade! It has a pretty dimpled rose gold lid too - I mean who doesn't love a bit of rose gold?! Aquatic Grey on the other hand is a shimmery, slightly navy, dark grey, with the same dimpled lid but in navy. I don't know if these coloured lids are a new thing for Clarins eyeshadows, or if they are exclusive to this Ombre Iridescente line, but I love them!

As I said, the formulations of them are gorgeous as the powder is very finely milled and soft, so they are a dream to apply. The lasting power is great too, and lasts perfectly throughout the day!

Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base* - Golden Bronze (05) - £26
Another couple of products in the new range were two new shades of the Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base! I am a big fan of the original shade Rose, so I was looking forward to trying one of the two new shades, Golden Bronze. This one is a dewy, well, golden bronze shade, that has a very similar formulation to Rose.

It "illuminates and corrects" and helps to reduce the appearance of pores, so it does the same job as a primer, whilst giving a gorgeous glow! You can wear it by itself, or mixed with your foundation to give you that bit of extra colour. I will admit that as soon as you pump a little bit onto your hand it does look extremely daunting, but once you blend it out it turns into a pretty light golden shade!

Currently I have only been using it for contouring, but during the summer I barely tan on my face, because there is SPF in my foundation, which is what would make this perfect for getting rid of that white face-tanned body problem!

Clarins Aquatic Treasures Summer Bronzing Compact* - £30
Every summer Clarins release a new bronzer, and this year it is a big round compact with four different shades, ranging from a fair bronze to terracotta, with a pretty marine montif. It has a lovely, soft and blendable powder, which is always great because it makes application very nice. Also, as a little note - I did try to get a photo of the swatches of all four individual shades, but for some reason they all showed up the same colour on the camera, so I just did a swatch of them all mixed all together, but each shade is quite different to the other!

£30 may be a fair bit of money for a bronzer, but this is honestly a massive compact, and you are in effect getting four different bronzers for the price of one!

Clarins After Sun Shimmer Oil* - £32
Strangely I'd never tried any skincare products from Clarins, so when I saw that I had been sent the After Sun Shimmer Oil I was really looking forward to trying it. It is a "fine, lightweight beauty-enhancing oil with subtle iridescence that nourishes and illuminates the body with a soft golden shimmer" which describes it perfectly!

It contains hazelnut oil, helping to replenish the moisture your skin loses whilst tanning, and it also has lots of shimmer, as you've probably noticed from the photos, so it really helps to reflect light off your skin to help emphasize your tan. Even though this is an oil it doesn't have a particularly "oily" feel either, more of a dry oil, which is nice!

Admittedly I haven't had much use out of this yet, since I haven't spent enough time in the sun to account for using it, however I can't wait to get using it more throughout the spring and summer. I reckon that this will be one of the biggest selling products from the range!

Again, I think that this is another great collection Clarins! I'm really excited to see the autumn collection now (oh no, we are almost 5 months into the year), as there will hopefully be some more lovely products. Definitely have a look at this collection if you spot it at a counter from May, because I'm sure you will love it just as much as I do!

Birchbox Royally Good - April 2015 // REVIEW

To celebrate the birth of the second royal baby (which should be happening on the 25th of April I believe) Birchbox have given this month's box a royal theme! Named Royally Good, you get the surprise of either receiving the baby blue/mint green box or the pretty pink box, AKA the boy or girl box. Contained within the box there are five luxury products and a bonus product, all for £12.95!

There seemed to be quite a few well known brands popping up in this month's box, including Liz Earle, Percy & Reed and KORRES, but the brand focus was Laura Mercier. You could choose one of three products - their foundation primer (which I know a lot of people adore), mascara or eye pencil!

I was sent the blue box, which I personally love as the design and colours are so pretty! My products were all packaged up in nice woven mesh drawstring bag, and would be handy for me to use as a little makeup bag to pop into my handbag. In my box I found a 0.8g Laura Mercier Longwear Creme Eye Pencil in Black Violet - a creamy deep purple eyeliner pencil. A 40ml KORRES Bergamot & Pear Shower Gel, which quite frankly smells absolutely amazing! An 8ml Lola Barcelona Nail Polish in Gracia - which is a fuchsia pink shade. A 30ml Percy & Reed Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil (yes, that really is its actual name), which does exactly what it says! A 30ml Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash, that is a 2-in-1 cleanser and exfoliator. There was also a 4 week supply of the Inner Me Energise Me Supplements!

The Inner Me tablets actually really interest me as they are supposed to help increase energy levels, improve muscle function and regulate blood sugar level, so I will definitely be using those over the exam period in May and June!

The Birchbox Royally Good Box* definitely is great value for money! Honestly I can't see myself getting much use out of the eye pencil and nail polish, because they just aren't my sort of colours, but I'm really looking forward to trying the others out and I would say that the £12.95 is worth that for those four products alone. With Birchbox being one of the cheaper beauty boxes on the market, and always seeming to keep to a good standard (unlike some other beauty boxes), I'd happily try more from them in the future!

What do you think of April's Birchbox?

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette // REVIEW

Before I start, sorry for the lack of posts recently! I've barely had any time to do blogging stuff, since I have been revising for my exams which are in May/June, but once they are over I will hopefully be back to normal posting times.

Even though it was launched back in late 2013, the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette is still talked about so much! Urban Decay really do make great eyeshadows, hence why it is my favourite brand for those, because they are of very high quality and there are some gorgeous shades - especially to a neutral eyeshadow fanatic like me. If you didn't know, the "Naked" line contains quite a few products, but the main focus is around the Naked eyeshadow palettes. There are three of these, aswell as the two Naked Basics palettes, all with fairly different shades!

I had only tried one Urban Decay palette in the past (Naked Basics), and I adored it, so I was pretty set on buying the Naked 3 palette once it launched! I almost bought it in January 2014, however I actually won it in a giveaway within days of telling myself to hold off buying it for a bit, so I really could not believe my luck. Obviously I was excited for the palette to arrive and get testing it out, due to the level of hype surrounding it and of course it is a very pretty palette!

Naked 3 contains twelve different eyeshadow shades - three mattes, and nine shimmers! There are six pink/rose gold toned shades, five taupe/bronze shades and then a stunning foil-like gold shade called Trick. Aswell as that, it's all wrapped up in a rose gold casing, which I think you will agree is beautiful. Like the two previous Naked palettes, this one comes with a big mirror and a brush, so it is perfect for when you are on-the-go!

All of the eyeshadows blend beautifully and most of the shades have great pigmentation, but admittedly the matte shadows' pigmentation aren't the best! This is a big shame, considering the pigmentation of the matte shadows in the Naked Basics palettes, but oh well. I'd say that the most pigmented shade is Trick which, as I said, is that foil-like gold shade, and the least is Limit, a pretty matte light pink. The lasting power of all the shades is great, and they easily last all day on my eyelids (which are on the oily side) without any creasing at all!

I really could not recommend this palette enough! It is on the pricey side at £38, but it definitely is worth the investment if you're going to use it a lot like I do. I would say to go and have a look at it in real life though, since I know those with skin on the warmer side have found that these shades sadly don't suit them too well!

What's your favourite Urban Decay palette/eyeshadow?

Glowy Bases

Dewy and glowy makeup seems to have gotten extremely popular in the past couple of years, and you can really see why! Using products that give you a nice glow can instantly help make your skin look more awake and vibrant, whilst making your makeup look fresh and pretty. I have a few go-to products for when I want to achieve this look, which I'm going to talk about in this post!

Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder - £36* - This is a very pigmented and glittery highlighter, so you only need to apply a tiny bit! I prefer to use this in a C shape along my cheek bones and a little under my brow bones, however I wouldn't use this anywhere else on my face, purely due to it being fairly glittery. Although on my cheek bones it just gives a really pretty glow, and the nude colour of the highlighter seems to give you even more of an enhancement!

NARS Illuminator - Orgasm - £23 The NARS Orgasm Blush must be one of their most talked about products, since it's a lovely shade, however I rarely hear anybody talking about the illuminator version! It's a pretty, slightly pearlescent, deep pink shade with a nude tinge, which I love to use as a blush-highlighter combo, making it great to apply if you are in a rush. The application is very nice too as it's a really light and creamy liquid formula, so it's easy to blend in!

Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base - Rose - £26.50* This is a weightless liquid that you quickly apply before your foundation, or by itself! I love the concept of this as it applies beautifully, and even works well on dry skin, plus it doesn't give a glittery look at all, more of a pretty sheen. I'm definitely going to start wearing this more in the summer!

Estee Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Moisture Makeup - £29 This gives a gorgeous radiant glow, without looking at all oily! I am definitely one for light coverage foundations/BB creams, especially during the summer, I mean who really wants a thick layer of makeup on when it is hot? Speaking of which, this is also SPF30, making it perfect for protecting your skin against UV rays. The name doesn't lie either because it really does last all day!

Estee Lauder Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee - Heat Wave - No longer available* This was released way back in 2013 and people went absolutely mad for it! I can really see why because it is seriously beautiful - a shimmery and glowy champagne coloured highlighter, with a smooth powder feel that applies perfectly.  I've heard that Estee Lauder is actually re-releasing this in their summer collection, which is great for those of you who wanted it previously but never got a chance before it sold out!

So they are a few of my favourites for creating a glowy base! I'd love to know if you're one for a glowy and dewy look, or whether you prefer to be more on the matte side.

What are your favourite products for a glowy base?

How I Edit My Instagram Photos // PHOTOGRAPHY

I did a post a week and a half ago about "DSLR basics", which seemed to go down really well, so I thought I'd do another photography tip related post, this time about Instagram! Since the start of this year I've been really trying to keep to a theme on my Instagram account, which is bright photos with a white background (most of the time)!

I'd say that it's working out quite well as I currently have 524 followers, compared to the 348 I had two months ago. I know that this may not seem like a huge amount, however I had gained that 348 over about two years of using Instagram, so to gain 176 more followers over two months I'd say I'm quite happy with! I've also had a few people asking me recently how I edit my Instagram photos, which is exactly what I'm going to talk about today.

I take pretty much all of my Instagram photos using my iPhone 6 because the camera really is amazing! I will occasionally use my Canon 600D, however if those need editing I use the same process as I do when I edit my blog photography (which is a post I am going to do in the future). Using my phone to do all the taking and editing of Instagram photos is just far more convenient and quicker too, hence why I use that!

For taking my photos I use a piece of white paper, as this is an easy and quick thing to do! I just snap my photo, then usually want to increase the brightness, so I then import the image the app Snapseed. To brighten it I use the "tune image" section and swipe left, until it's at the level of brightness I'd like!

I rarely use filters, as I prefer to just make the image brighter and leave it at that, however if I want to I usually use the VSCO Cam app! This is great because there are lots of filters, and you can alter the level of them.

I prefer not to have my Instagram photos in the regular square shape, so once I've finished editing the photo and it's in a rectangle shape, I go onto the Squaready app! This adds a white boarder onto two sides, turning the image into a square! Hopefully that makes some sort of sense, but if not have a look at my Instagram and you'll see what I mean. Once I've used those apps, I just upload the finished image to Instagram!

I hope that you liked this post and found it useful! I'd love to know what your favourite Instagram accounts are and if you use any of the three editing apps that I do.

What is your Instagram?

Lush Mother's Day Collection

It's no secret that I absolutely love Lush, to the point where I have a huge double-depth cake box absolutely packed full of their products! Whilst this probably isn't my smartest idea, considering how much money I must have spent in that shop (which has got to be atleast £150, oops!), I just can't resist.

That reason is why I was really excited to test out a few products from their Mother's Day collection! I personally think that a few bath products would be amazing to pop into a present, as it would give somebody a good excuse to have a relaxing bath.

Bubblegrub Bubble Bar - £2.95* The Bubble Grub is quite a cute looking bubble bar! Mine only came with one vanilla pod antennae, however it does usually have two, thought I'd mention that. It does have quite an odd smell, which I'm sadly not sure I really like! It's smells quite strongly of sandalwood, mixed with an earthy scent, so it's not really my sort of scent. Scent aside though this leaves your skin feeling really soft and soothed, meaning it's great if you're after a moisturising bubble bar!

Mother Superior Bubble Bar - £3.75* This is a pretty big bubble bar, so you get a good few uses out of it, which is great considering that it is less than £4! As the name would suggest, this is supposed to look like a nun, but instead I see it more as a baby wrapped up in a blanket. Maybe it is just me but the funny face it is pulling just reminds me of that of a screaming baby's haha!

This one has quite a delicate floral scent, with some citrus nodes, so it's a lovely scent. One of the things I love about this is the fact that it turns the bath water a pretty sky blue, whilst leaving my skin feeling really moisturised! Definitely pick this one up!

Secret Garden Bath Bomb - £2.95* I believe that Secret Garden is a bath bomb that has been around since the Mother's Day collection in 2013, meaning it must be good to bring it back for two further years! It has a rose and orange oil scent, however it also smells like it has some sort of herb in it - I'm not exactly sure what. It isn't too overpowering though, which is nice!

Once it has all fizzed away you are left with a nice emerald green coloured bath, making it quite calming. This is a great little bath bomb considering the price, so I'd really recommend giving it a try!

Anything from the Lush Mother's Day collection would make a fantastic present, incase you're a bit late buying anything! You could even do a little spa-esque package and buy your mum a few toiletries/bath products, then get a nice box (or wrap them in one of the Lush scarves), as this would make a lovely present.

What's your favourite product from the Lush Mother's Day collection?

Case App & GIVEAWAY

Back in January I bought an iPhone 6, and seeing as I'm pretty insistent on keeping my phones protected, so that they don't get damaged, getting a case was my first priority after buying the phone! I was asked whether I would like to feature a lovely Case App case on my blog, and after looking at their Instagram page which is filled with case design inspiration, I had to say yes.

If you hadn't heard of Case App before, they are basically a brand that create cases and skins for a big range of technology, but they can be completely designed by you! They also have several pre-made designs and clip art, incase you can't come up with a design on your own or need some inspiration.

Before this, I had spent atleast 2 hours looking for a marble print iPhone case, however most are from the USA and would cost a lot to post, then the ones in the UK were far too much money or didn't have the right marble look I was after. This situation had obviously meant that there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to have a marble print on my lovely Case App case! I ended up choosing the iPhone 6 "tough" case*, which is a regular hard case but with a silicone lining, to provide more protection.

It arrived a couple of days after I ordered it, and it was exactly the design that I was looking for! I decided to go with a matte finish, so the case feels really robust and good quality, which is great. I also adore the pretty white and grey-blue marble design I chose! The image transferred really well onto the case, and the colours didn't look at all different (which is one of the things I was worried about, as printing images onto something often weakens or alters the colour).

My only negative about the tough case is that the silicone lining can only be black, which may clash with your design! It would be good if you could also choose, say, a white silicone lining as that would look better with some cases, such as mine.

Now for the exciting bit - I've kindly been given a Case App voucher to give away to one of you lucky people! If you'd like a chance to win then enter by the 22nd of March 12am GMT, via the Rafflecopter form below, but first the boring terms of the giveaway!
